Skill set: Andrea Lausevic

Hello all, I hope you are staying warm. I’m really excited to be part of this semester’s DH and contribute with my skills in bringing a socially beneficial project to  life. Here are my skills listed by the level of proficiency:

Design and UX
I hold a BA degree in Graphic Design from the University of Hertfordshire in the UK. As a designer I worked with numerous culture, art, non-profit, and education clients. I currently work at Amplify, an education platform that offers public school curriculum for K-12, as an art director. I am responsible for maintaining the current visual identity across different programs as well as concepting and creating the new ones. Some of the previous clients were Whitney museum, Brooklyn museum, UN, Girl Scouts, Action Against Hunger, Columbia GSAPP, NADA, Neue House.

I have extensive experience with designing for print, digital and web. In regards to web development, I do wireframing, prototyping, UX/UI, mobile optimization, and testing.

– Adobe CC  (design and more)
– Sketch (web design)
– Axure (wireframing)
– Figma (web design, prototyping)

I have experience with photography (both film and digital) and photo editing. I haven’t done a lot of video work, but I think I’ll be able to deliver a solid product.

I have completed Front End development course a few years ago, but haven’t been practicing web development from scratch for a while. I’m able to edit  and understand the code (html and css), and I used many different web platforms and CMS’s (Squarespace, WordPress, Readymag, Economy, Wix).

As a graduate student, I have experience in conducting academic research. I’ve been interested in looking at gender through the lens of sociological, political and philosophical theories and practices, and the implications they have on the current state of affairs. I have written papers about gender violence, the relationship between gender roles in the socialist political system (in Yugoslavia), and about female voters who helped elect Trump.

As an art director, I conduct visual research on a daily basis. I strive to remain on top of new visual trends, methods, and practices in ways people communicate.

Strategy (limited)

I worked in a firm that blended strategy and design to help leaders and organizations work more efficiently and harmoniously. I’ve collaborated closely with business strategists to design workshops and visual experiences in which the training will take place. I see using this skill in two ways, one to potentially create immersive exhibition design, and second, to help create a business or marketing plan. I am good with creating roadmaps and defining the milestones that will help the project reach its final goal.

About me

I am passionate about social justice and solving problems of gender, racial and economic inequalities in our society. I deeply believe that some of the principles of democratic socialism can potentially offer an alternative to these issues, raising the awareness of social responsibility of an individual as a part of a collective.

I’m originally from Belgrade, Serbia, but I’ve lived in China, UK, France, Morocco and now US (for the past 8 years). Meditation keeps me centered.
